Well, I’m done

6 miles finished 24 hrs ago, 11 miles this morning — including lots of juice at the front of the pack, not all the way through by any means, but a dash at the bitter end that caused my companion to shout “you’re crazy!” Which made my day. I slept for three hours this afternoon after the picnic — bringing my total for the preceding 24 hrs up to 6 hrs of sleep — then woke up and tried to run but had to walk the last leg. Arty swung by in his truck and ppicked me up only a quarter at most into this beautiful, green, forested last 8 mile stretch on Terwilliger, brought me back to the farm, I donned my helmet and spades (seems like a good term for sidi doms, right?), and broke out lickity-fast down the course again. Blasting down a hill when I passed Trina and Tony, who were running the opposite direction and were probably about 3/4 of the way done. Passed the Tod and Chelsea, who were walking, and I thought I was going downhill then, too, but anyway made it all the way to Casey Eye Institute, directly under the tram, and blasted home to the house, where we ate chicken Tony had marinated for a couple days and was grilling up, potat-egg salade, beers, cake. I had started off this last leg with a bacon choco chip cookie (more on that soon), so I was about done with sugar this night. Now it’s to bed, choco chip pancakes for breakfast, and bomb down barbur to give back someone’s piano, catch a bud before he flies to Italy, buy some tix to see my grandma, and call somebody.

The air is cool and the humming fan pushes it around. How can a highway not sound like a lullaby?

I turn off my device, plug it in, and fall asleep for the last time on 24Mi24HwTP. Wot wot.
